“All Things Are Admired Either Because They Are New Or Because They Are Great”

I have agree with Sir Francis Bacon on this one, but allow me to add my two cents. Seeing as how there is no way for anyone to object to me doing so while I'm still typing this, I shall continue.

While expressing admiration toward those who deserve it is grand, many seem to cross the line between being a simple supporter and being an obsessive zealot. What exactly is it that pushes people over this hairline thick border and makes them sit and watch in awe as their ineffable icon does something as common as... breathing? I'll admit that I too have fallen into this assemblage of admiring followers; that I too have felt intimidation around those I see as gifted; that I too have overindulged in items (merch) that were unnecessary and only left me wanting more. The bottom line is: People are people. Yes, I'm stating the obvious, but it is the most obvious facts that are constantly overlooked. I understand this, but for some reason I can't quite put my finger on, I still go back to acting this way.

So, does anyone have a cure for my good people? We can pay you in virtual smileys and mild mental breakdowns. :)

You have a great way with words :-)

If you think about it, admiring isn't really a crime, is it? Maybe to your wallet, but if you buy "merchandise" for the right reasons (expressing yourself/affinity rather than 'cause everyone else is'), it really isn't a waste. (Hope I'm on the right track)

Just a tip: don't waste too much if your life keeping up with your icons. Admiration can be used in a good way to spur inspiration, so use that to your advantage. Reflect on your priorities and passions, and draw on that. It never seems like there's enough time to do things, but if you're dedicated enough, you'll get something done, promise. Maybe you should try learning an instrument with some friends, or try a sport, or maybe culinary arts? Or perhaps writing! :-)

Wow, I wrote a novel, haha
